Time Taken:
* Drawing: Beats Me (a very, very long time) Listening To: "Personal Jesus," by Marilyn Manson
The Kamei'Sin Clan and the Jyraneth Clan have been mortal enemies for millennia, something which started off as a mere rivalry revolving around the competition for prey and territory, but which degenerated into a bloodthirsty quarrel after a battle between Jyraneth and the second clan founder of Kamei'Sin Clan. This legendary skirmish ended with tragic results: Jyraneth mercilessly tore the soul of the unfortunate clan sovereign out of his body and imprisoned it within an enchanted gemstone. Devastated by the loss of her lover, Qaisyne declared full warfare on the Jyraneth Clan, and swore to hunt down every clan member and eliminate Jyraneth's legacy.
Her time came. While she did not successfully terminate Jyraneth Clan entirely, Qaisyne did invade the Jyraneth haven of Harla'keth and had almost all of its inhabitants either massacred or brought back to the Kamei'Sin Capital and tortured. Out of the more than 200 residents, 58 of which were Jyraneth clan Cubi, an indeterminate number survived - estimated to be around 15. Today, no one's really sure how many survivors there are, as Jyraneth Clan participants in SAIA are basically unheard of, with the exception of a student who enrolled for the purpose of finding survivors of her clan. She was expelled after the combined factors of poor performance rate and attacking another student.
Jyraneth herself is still alive, but no one knows where she is. Qaisyne still reigns over the Kamei'Sin Capital, supposedly living contentedly after she liberated her lover's soul from its crystalline prison at long last.
Copying and pasting from the Clockwork Mansion forums because I'm a little exhausted after typing up that big explanation of the Jyraneth-Kamei'Sin feud: Oh dear GOD I... this took so fucking long, and I'm overjoyed with the results of my hard work. I couldn't be more proud, and I hope you guys enjoy this piece of work. I don't know if this picture will be colored in the future, but it will be a very long time before I tackle that project, considering the immense detail applied to this image. Inking this thing would kill me. For this picture I decided to try something a bit new with my style which will hopefully improve the way I draw furries: particularly, I'm going to research what the actual animals look like and adopt their distinctive characteristics to help differentiate them in my pictures. I tried doing that with Qaisyne. She's a lioness, and in order to draw her I had to look up real animals, while completely abstaining from popular depictions such as the Lion King and et cetera. The reason behind this is because I don't want any other styles to influence my work, since I've been unconsciously adopting methods of drawing from other people. This is largely a trial and error process, but hopefully I'll benefit from it in the end.
Jyraneth doesn't look like a jackal, much, because her ears are folded back.
Depicted in this picture are Jyraneth and Qaisyne Kamei'Sin, the clan leaders of their respective clans. Jyraneth has a bit of a fashion change, as you can see. She's a bit into gothic lolita dresses.
Much praise goes to Mel Dragonkitty for helping me out with the front of the gown. <3 The wing-tentacles were very improvised, especially since I had never drawn them before. Ultimately, I'm happy with how Jyraneth's turned out, but Qaisyne's are a little wonky. That's all I don't like about the picture. Mostly everything here was a test of my skills, from the details in Jyraneth's lace to Qaisyne's armor design.
By the way, critique is pretty much optional for this picture. I don't mind if you critique it.
The elbows shoudl be farther up, take a look at your own ribcage, the humerus (that's the upper arm bone) meets the Ulna (elbow bone) at the bottom of the solar plexus (where your ribcage leaves that large gap and your abs start). The characters'ribcages should actually be a bit more full, take a look at a profile view of a female and male body with the arm raised. (www.3d.sk woudl be good for this or posemaniacs or www.fineart.sk)
There shoudl be more folds and creases even in the dress if it lays against her and his legs. Also the jaws should be more full, even for the woman, study zoology to get a wolf's skull image for this. I gotta go now, bell just went, bye!

One by one, I am addressing your comments. xD This might take a while since I'm trying to get in-depth.
I had never noticed the errors with the elbows and ribcages until you just pointed it out, but now I see what you're talking about. Dammit. Fortunately I still have the original lineart and the elbows are an easy fix, so I can either take a pencil to the original lineart and fix it, or I can adjust this when I finally get around to inking this picture. Unfortunately it might be a long time before I do start inking, since this is such a huge picture and I'm a little intimidated by it.
The same applies to the folds and creases in the loincloth/dress thing. That's actually something which has bothered me for a while, but I was so satisfied with the rest of the image that I simply excused it. As for the jaws, I'll definitely try and fix that. That's an easy fix.
Thank you so much for the critique, good sir. ^^ I really can't thank you enough for it. I hope I can put this advice to good use.
Holy crap!!! This is amazing!!! That detail is just astounding!! I don't think I would ever have the patience for that! Not to mention I suck at designing outfits, but those are so awesome looking!! I think you really outdid yourself on this!! I think it would be so cool to see this finalized one day!!
Can't get over that detail...

Your style of art is so strange that I like it! The way you put detail into pictures is very amazing. I'm surprised that this picture doesn't have more faves. ^^ Oh, and good luck with your 100 theme challenge!

Haha, yeah. XD My style is pretty strange, but I do love it. It's kind of cartoony.
And oh, thank you so much! I'm really happy that you dropped a comment. That was really nice of you. And thank you! The 100 Themes challenge is a lot of fun.
